Product Information

Finish Nails, also called Finishing Nails, are small-head nails used for visible wood finishing work such as baseboards, door casing, crown molding, trim, panels and cabinet face applications. The slim 15-16 gauge body helps reduce splitting, while the small head can be set slightly below the wood surface and filled with putty for a cleaner finish.

These nails are intended for decorative and finish carpentry, not for structural framing or heavy load-bearing wood connections. They are a practical choice where the fastener head should be less visible after installation, especially on painted trim, interior molding and cabinet visible faces.

A Finish Nailer is the recommended tool for clean, repeatable installation. For hand work, a Claw Hammer can be used together with a Nail Set to countersink the head below the surface before filling, but manual installation is slower and requires careful control to avoid marking finished wood.

Finish nails are used for baseboards, door casing, crown molding, trim, panels and cabinet visible faces where the nail head should be less visible after installation.
Are finish nails structural nails?
No. Finish nails are for decorative and finish carpentry. They should not be used for structural framing, heavy load-bearing wood connections, concrete fastening or metal structure fastening.
Why are finish nails easier to hide?
Finish nails have a small head that can be set below the wood surface and covered with filler or putty, making them suitable for visible trim and painted woodwork.
What tool should be used with finish nails?
A Finish Nailer is recommended for fast and clean installation. For small manual jobs, a Claw Hammer can be used with a Nail Set to countersink the head.
