Product Information

Masonry Nails, also called Concrete Nails, are hardened steel fasteners used for light-duty attachment of wood battens, furring strips and compatible fixtures to sound brick, concrete and mortar joints. Their hardened body is designed to resist bending during hammer driving, while grooved or fluted shank options improve mechanical engagement in suitable masonry substrates.

Concrete, brick and mortar vary considerably in density and condition. Fastener length, shank style and installation method must match the substrate and attachment. Mortar joints generally provide less predictable holding than sound concrete or brick, so a site test and the project specification are important. Masonry nails are not substitutes for rated anchors in structural, overhead, guardrail or other safety-critical connections.

Drive masonry nails with a Claw Hammer or Masonry Hammer using controlled square blows. A masonry drill may be used only to form a correctly sized shallow starter or pilot hole where the substrate is dense or prone to surface spalling; it is not used to drive the nail. Wear safety glasses because hardened nails or masonry can chip, and do not install into cracked material, near unsupported edges or where the substrate cannot provide reliable holding.

Features & Benefits

  • HARDENED STEEL BODY - Designed to resist bending during controlled hammer driving into compatible masonry substrates.
  • GROOVED OR FLUTED SHANK - Shank profiles improve mechanical engagement in sound concrete, brick and mortar applications.
  • WOOD-TO-MASONRY FIXING - Suitable for light-duty attachment of battens, furring strips and compatible wood components.
  • HAMMER-DRIVEN INSTALLATION - Installed with a Claw Hammer or Masonry Hammer, with no powered driving tool required.
  • OPTIONAL SHALLOW PILOT - A masonry bit can form a starter hole in dense or brittle surfaces before hand driving.
  • CLEAR LOAD LIMITS - Intended for light-duty fixing, not rated structural, overhead or safety-critical anchoring.

FAQs

Sourcing questions, samples, MOQ, packing & shipping.

What are masonry nails used for?
They are used for light-duty attachment of wood battens, furring strips and compatible fixtures to sound concrete, brick or mortar joints.
Why are concrete nails made from hardened steel?
Hardening helps the nail resist bending during controlled hammer driving into a compatible masonry substrate. Hardened fasteners can chip, so safety glasses are required.
Should I drill a pilot hole for masonry nails?
A shallow starter or pilot hole can help in dense concrete, hard brick or surfaces prone to spalling. Use a masonry bit sized for the selected nail and substrate, then drive the nail with a hammer.
Can an electric drill drive masonry nails?
No. A drill may create a pilot hole, but the masonry nail itself is driven with a Claw Hammer or Masonry Hammer. Use an approved screw-and-anchor system if powered screw installation is required.
Can masonry nails be used for structural or overhead loads?
No. These nails are intended for light-duty fixing. Structural, overhead, guardrail and safety-critical applications require a properly selected and rated anchor system.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide nail length and diameter, head and shank profile, finish, attachment thickness, masonry substrate, packing style, order quantity and destination market.
